The Atlas
Mountains and North Africa's highest peak have a captivating geography with

Toubkal is
composed of several peaks, with Jebel Toubkal standing at an elevation of 4,167
meters (13,671 feet). It is often covered in snow during the winter months,

The peak is
situated within Toubkal National Park, which spans approximately 380 square
kilometers (147 square miles). The park is a sanctuary for diverse plant and
animal species, preserving the region's biodiversity. As you climb to the top,

vegetation and wildlife.
The lower
slopes of the peak feature rugged terrain and Mediterranean vegetation,
including juniper trees, oak forests, and fragrant herbs. As you ascend

The High

The peak
may have been climbed before on June 12, 1923, when the Marquis de Segonzac,
Vincent Berger, and Hubert Dolbeau made the first recorded ascent. The
following year, the height of Toubkal was measured and found to be 4,165 meters
(13,665 feet). It is now 4,167 meters high and is marked by a large metal
pyramid-shaped marker. From the summit, you can see most of the Atlas and
Anti-Atlantic Mountains.
It is
possible to climb the peak in two days. The first day is spent ascending to the
refuge, which takes about seven hours. The second day is spent ascending to the
summit (about four hours), descending (about three hours), and returning to
Imlil (up to five hours).
